Student Life & Activities

Any college is a body of learners and a body of individuals. Each person steps onto campus with dreams, hopes and desires. And, through shared goals and shared experiences, they come together into a single student body. Although the community college experience is different from that of the university - there are no dormitories or Greek organization housing - the community college nonetheless offers many opportunities for student involvement and leadership. The Citrus County campus offers several organizations in which students may be involved as well as special events and activities which allow students to socialize with one another and find their commonalities and their community.

Student Activities Board

The Student Activities Board coordinates student activities and events. They sponsor a variety of events, such as student breakfasts, special family meals and events, and charitable activities. Involvement in the SAB allows students to take a leadership role in campus life and to have a chance to change the "way things work" for the betterment of the student body.

In the Write Mind

In the Write Mind is the award-winning Citrus Campus literary magazine. Collecting student art and literature in an annual volume, In the Write Mind is a labor of love handcrafted by a group of students. Members of the In the Write Mind staff solicit contributions to the magazine, choose which submissions will be utilized, and format the magazine for publication. In the Write Mind allows students to exercise their artistic muscles and learn about publishing a magazine.

Service Learning Opportunities

An old adage says that we learn best by teaching. Students on CFCC Citrus are encouraged to strengthen their skills and knowledge by sharing them with others. Numerous part-time and financial-aid funded positions are available on Citrus Campus. In those positions, students may serve their college community, and, in so doing, strengthen their own skills.
